Ballet: 2008-2009
Your child's training is so important to us that we offer a variety
of ballet classes to address the particular needs of your child.
Children are often encouraged to take additional classes in different
levels when required or appropriate. Admittance to all classes level
II and above will be with teacher recommendation or by audition
only. Students must fulfill certain physical, emotional and attendance
requirements to remain eligible for a particular level class. Multiple
ballet classes per week are necessary, as well as attention to proper
nutrition, hydration and obtaining adequate rest, in order to reach
optimum progress.
The
following classes are invited to participate in our special end of year performance. A costume purchase and regular attendance are requirements to participate in this performance.
Dance attire & shoes are available for purchase at the dance studio.
Girls Ballet Dress Code:
All Leotards, tights & shoes should be purchased at the dance
studio or a reputable dance supply store. It is important that
dance attire fit properly so that the instructors can see the
body clearly. Pink tights, pink shoes, hair in bun. Leotards must
be VERY PLAIN. All leotards are to be of a non-shiny material
and have no attached skirts or adornments, (no crisscross straps,
cut outs, or extra bows allowed.) They may be long or short sleeves,
tank or camisole style so long as undergarments (bra straps) are
not visible. See individual class for leotard color. All classes
are to wear pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Hair must be
in properly pinned ballet bun with all loose hair secured in a hair net and fly-aways pinned down.
You may "cheat" the bun by using a hair clip that has an attached hair sack. No jewelry, watches or gum.
Boys Ballet Dress Code:
Black tights, bike shorts or tight fitting leggings, form fitting
white T-shirt and black ballet slippers. Older boys should wear a leotard or unitard.

A full year program designed to initiate the young dancer
into the complex and beautiful world of classical ballet.
Classes are an hour in length and include an introduction
to barre exercises, across the floor locomotion skills and
beginning center work. Strength, proper body alignment, ballet
vocabulary (terminology) and classroom etiquette are emphasized.
As this is a transitional year for kindergartners, the program
includes many of the fun & creative "let's imagine" activities from previous
lessons.
Although this is a year long program, late registration may
be accepted on a case-by-case basis, please call for information.
Classes end the third week in May. The year-end performance
is held at the studio in May, date to be announced.

have been built into the curriculum to facilitate extra stretch,
strengthening and choreographic opportunities, thus maintaining
the integrity of the regularly scheduled technique classes.
Additional cross training outside of the classroom is strongly
